Trees and shrubs

We have a large collection of trees and shrubs in varieties cultivated to thrive in your zone 2 or 3 garden. Ask us about the perfect plant for the perfect spot. We’ll help you select trees and shrubs based on their mature habit, leaf form and colour.

What’s new

Columnar trees – The hottest thing in tree development is the columnar or fastigiated tree. The trend to larger houses on smaller lots has increased demand for smaller trees. Ask us about our new columnar ornamental crab apples, Amur Cherry and blue spruce.

Bush honeysuckle – Cool Splash, a variegated bush honeysuckle or Diervilla, is an exciting new development for prairie gardeners. Bush honeysuckle is an under-used shrub. At 3’ x 3’, Cool Splash is a good size for even the smallest yard.

Cold climate ground cover roses – Happily, the breeders at Proven Winners are thinking a bit more about cold climate gardeners. Oh So Easy, their new series of ground cover roses are small, repeat blooming shrubs hardy to zone 3. The roses come in an exciting array of colours, including Paprika (a lovely ginger peach), Strawberry (a happy rose pink) and Peachy Cream (a beautiful pale peach).

New shrub for dry shade – Sweet Fern is an interesting shrub from northern China. Resembling a fern, this shrub has woody stems and a bit of a spreading habit. Sweet Fern is a great solution for low-maintenance gardens.
